Hot Water Appreciation Week!

This week we re-entered the 21st century as we finally fixed our water heater. So, in addition to all of the other things going on (school starting, etc…), I would like to dub this week: hot water appreciation week.
The quick version is that our new water heater has a few deliberate design flaws which caused the hot water to shut off. It could not be coaxed back on even for a quick shower. Replacement part after replacement part had to be ordered and they all failed to fix the problem. The good news is that after a week of cold showers, hand washing dishes, and avoiding laundry, we found the right part and we are back in business. I now know more than I ever wanted to about the inner workings of a water heater. I also have the spare parts to cover at least 10 more emergencies.
We are now more appreciative of the simple luxuries that we have and we know not to buy a Whirlpool water heater ever again. Other than that, we are one week into the semester and very excited that football season has started again.
